Congratulations Kevins
Congratulations to my friends Kevin Ryan and Kevin Lee. As they announced in
a press release today,
Did-it.com hired Kevin Ryan (no, not the
CEO of DoubleClick, where I currently work; the
other Kevin Ryan), formerly VP of Interactive Services at
Wahlstrom Interactive and a
columnist editor [excuse me]
for iMedia Connection, will serve as Executive Vice President of Did-it.
What the press release doesn't mention is that I had a hand in this happy event. Kevin Lee, CEO of Did-it, is a good buddy of mine; we like to go biking together on weekends (other than in winter). In the last year, unfortunately (for me), his business has been growing so fast (along with
the whole search marketing industry) that he hasn't had much time for biking lately. On our last ride a few months ago, I told him he should hire someone else senior to share in either the management and/or the publicity responsibilities (Kevin Lee is also a frequent industry speaker and
columnist for ClickZ).
A few days later, I spoke to another mutual friend who mentioned that Kevin Ryan, another buddy, was planning to move to NYC from California (glad to have him!) and would be looking for a job here. I recommended to the mutual friend that he talk to Kevin Lee, and one thing lead to another, and there we are. I feel like a proud new dad. I am supposed to get a free dinner out of it. I also expect fewer excuse about blowing off bike rides, come the spring.
The one thing that concerns me is the Kevin quotient: in addition to Lee and Ryan, Did-it also has a senior sales guy named Kevin Heisler.
