Healthy Choice Promotion Goes Awry, Pudding Man Cleans Up

It's a two-year-old story, but one that's doing the rounds again (first my friend Mark Haas sent it to me, and then I saw it again on bOingbOing): David Phillips, an engineer in California, saw a promotion for Healthy Choice that promised 1000 airline miles for every 10 universal product codes customers mailed in. Apparently there was no specified maximum number of UPCs customers could redeem, so Phillips bought more than 12,000 containers of Healthy Choice pudding -- every package of pudding for miles -- which, at 25 cents each, worked out to a total investment of just over $3,000 that he redeemed for more than 1 million airline miles, the equivalent of 31 round trips to Europe. The story is apparently true, as verified by rumor-busting Snopes.com. I wonder how the marketers at Healthy Choice like this story.
